What Is a DUI Clinical Evaluation?
A DUI Clinical Evaluation is a structured clinical assessment used to determine whether an individual meets criteria for a substance use disorder and whether treatment is indicated under DSM-5 and ASAM guidelines.
Georgia courts require that DUI evaluations be completed by a qualified professional approved under DBHDD standards.
Our evaluations include:
A comprehensive clinical interview
Review of alcohol and drug use history
Screening consistent with DBHDD requirements
ASAM Level of Care determination
Written report suitable for court or probation submission
Each evaluation is conducted professionally, objectively, and in accordance with state guidelines.
Who May Need This Evaluation?
You may be required to complete a DUI Clinical Evaluation if:
You were arrested for DUI in Georgia
Your attorney has recommended an evaluation
Probation requires a clinical assessment
You reside outside the state of arrest but must complete Georgia requirements
The court is determining whether ASAM Level 1 treatment is appropriate
Telehealth allows individuals anywhere in Georgia to complete the evaluation without traveling to an office. Please call us if you need a local office (in-person visit).
Availability via Secure Zoom Telehealth
All DUI Clinical Evaluations are conducted through secure Zoom telehealth services.
This allows us to serve:
Gwinnett County
Rockdale County
Newton County
DeKalb County
And all other Georgia jurisdictions (via Zoom Telehealth)
Reports are prepared in compliance with DBHDD standards and are accepted by courts and probation departments throughout Georgia.
Professional Standards
Evaluations are conducted by a DBHDD-approved Clinical Evaluator. Each assessment is completed using established clinical criteria and state-approved guidelines.
The purpose of the evaluation is not to automatically assign treatment, but to determine whether treatment is clinically indicated and, if so, at what level.
If ASAM Level 1 group counseling is recommended, the evaluation will clearly outline the required number of sessions under Georgia standards.
If treatment is not indicated, the evaluation will reflect those findings accordingly.
